YUKIMI SONG

Yukimi was born and raised in Tokyo. She graduated from Ueno Gakuen Junior High School of Music, one of the most prestigious performing arts schools in Japan, with classical piano as her first instrument. Yukimi continued her high school studies at Ueno, only to quit two years in to follow her dream of studying the English language and Journalism in the US.

While pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications in Florida, she chose music (piano) as her minor, which led to her studying with the internationally renowned pianist and pedagogue, Daisy de Luca Jaffe, and wining several competitions. After completing her B.A. in Communications, Yukimi was granted a full scholarship to continue her piano studies, earning a Master’s in Piano Performance with de Luca Jaffe. Upon completion of her M.A., Yukimi continued to teach piano lessons and classes at a private college in Florida as a full-time faculty member. During the summers of 2004 and 2005, she won scholarships to study abroad in Salzburg, Austria with Oliver Gardon and Sergei Dorenski, where she was selected to play for the Student Concert in Wiener Saal of Mozarteum University.

Yukimi moved to New York City in 2007 to continue her graduate studies with Deirdre O’Donohue at New York University. In 2008, she received an Advanced Certificate Degree in Piano, while also teaching individual and group piano lessons as an Adjunct Instructor at the Steinhardt School at NYU, and teaching young students independently. In 2013, Yukimi Song Studio LLC was established, and has been a member of the Piano Teachers Congress of New York since 2015 where Yukimi is currently serving as Vice President and Secretary. She performs periodically in solo recitals and chamber ensembles in NYC and overseas, while educating over 40 piano enthusiasts of all ages and levels in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
