POKIE HUANG

Pianist Pokie Huang, is an active soloist, collaborative pianist and music educator in the New York City area. Originally from Taiwan, he began his musical studies at the age of five and completed his high school diploma at the Interlochen Arts Academy in northern Michigan where he studied with Dr. Michael Coonrod. Upon graduating, he continued his Bachelors at Lawrence University where he studied with Dr. Michael Kim and later at Manhattan school of Music where he completed his Bachelors and Masters Degree under the guidance of Prof. Phillip Kawin. Pokie Has worked with many distinguished pianists and artist teachers including Jeremy Denk, Nina Serogina, Vladimir Feltsman, Herbert Stessin and Avi Reichert among others. Pokie has participated and performed solo and chamber works in music festivals internationally, including Aspen Music Festival, Pianosummer at New Paltz and the International Academy of Music in St. Petersburg, Russia. A passionate teacher, Pokie maintains an active teaching schedule working with students throughout the New York Triborough area and upstate New York. Pokie has taught students of all ages ranging from young kids to adults and he also has been invited regularly as an adjudicator for the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) exams.
