The PTCNY presents a special screening of Alicia’s Hands,a touching documentary on the life and work of legendary pianist Alicia de Larrocha by filmmakers Verònica Font and Yolanda Olmos. This intimate, poetic portrait of the celebrated artist and her meteoric career features commentary by Joaquín Achúcarro, Martha Argerich, Zubin Mehta, Maria Jôao Pires, André Previn, and Gerard Schwarz, among others.

Yolanda Olmoshas been part of Producciones Doble Banda, where she works as Executive Producer and Director, since 2002. For Doble Banda, she has directed the documentaries Alicia’s Hands(2017), Desires(2011), Shorok(2008), and Vos que sos mi hermana(2001), which have participated in international festivals such as DocumentaMadrid, Festival de Cine de Derechos Humanos de Buenos Aires, Ethnocineteca (Vienna), Festival de Cine de Pamplona, Festival de Cinema de Dones de Barcelona, Festival International de Films de Femmes Créteil, Festival de Sitges, and Festival de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana. She has also directed Modernismo, arte, talleres e industria(2015) and Depero y la reconstrucción futurista del universo(2013) for the Fundació Catalunya-La Pedrera. As Executive Producer, she has produced more than twenty documentaries in association with TV3, TVE, Canal Sur, France 3, and Canal Arte. Most recently, she has produced the award-winning films Tchindas(2015) and Kilian Jornet, el contador de lagos(2013).
With extensive experience in the fields of sound engineering and design, Verònica Fonthas worked in narrative film and documentary genres. Recent works include feature films Facing the Wind (2016) and El efecto K: El montador de Stalin(2010), as well as documentaries La cigüeña metálica(2012), La camisa de Christa Leem(2012), Sinaia, més enllà de l’oceà(2011), and Qatar, Global Race(2011), among others. As scriptwriter and director, she has most recently created Alicia’s Hands(2017) and Kilian Jornet, el contador de lagos(2013).
